The Kessler Collection Unveils The Kessler Signature Young Artist Series
2/8/2007

ORLANDO, FL – The Kessler Collection and the Grand Bohemian Hotel today announces its first in a series supporting young artists across Florida, entitled The Kessler Signature Young Artist Series. Richard C. Kessler, Chairman and CEO of The Kessler Enterprise, Inc., is an avid supporter of the arts. Most recently, he pledged $1 million dollars to OPAC (Orlando Performing Arts Center) and also started the OCPS (Orange County Public School)/Kessler Grand Bohemian Scholarship Fund to benefit art, music and drama teachers six years ago.

This free inaugural event is open to the public and is set to be held monthly, featuring a new artist each month. The first of the series will be held at Kessler's Grand Bohemian Hotel on Tuesday, February 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the Klimt Rotunda featuring nine-year-old pianist Micah Thomas. Micah will be playing on the rare Imperial Grand Bösendorfer piano which was designed by Hans Hollein and is valued at $250,000. In addition, the AAA Four-Diamond Boheme Restaurant will be featuring a special lunch menu.

Roger Ploum, General Manager, says, "We are honored to host these young musical talents in our hotel. It is only fitting that they perform here amidst a property swelling with art and music. We are excited about this inaugural performance and look forward to each of the unique upcoming shows."

About Micah Thomas:
The February 13 event will present pianist Micah Thomas performing compositions by Bach, Haydn, Schubert, Chopin, Grieg, Debussy, Gershwin and Kabalevsky. Thomas, a nine-year-old pianist prodigy, has responded intensely to music since infancy and began studying the piano at the age of three. With absolute perfect pitch and the ability to improvise, he began piano studies with Wes Hamrick, Grand Bohemian Hotel’s music director, in 2005.

Micah enjoys listening to a wide variety of musical genres, referencing what he has experienced in his own spontaneous playing. Home-schooled through second grade and currently attending third grade at the New School Preparatory in Orlando, Micah believes that music is a gift of God and hopes that his music is a blessing to others.

About the Grand Bohemian Hotel:
The Grand Bohemian Hotel, created by its owner Richard C. Kessler is “an experience in art and music."
